Unbelievable Cuteness

Hi folks, its been just over a year since logged onto blogger to share my adventures. Its good to be back, especially since we have a camera again. Anyway, today I set out to tackle that overgrown strawberry bed.
However, with a feeling of deja vu, much like last year, I noticed something strange--
But this time, something fuzzy

AAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!

Don't touch!

There's probably 4 or 5....I didn't want to disturb them too much. The mom's probably not far, watching. Hmmm, surely a nest of baby cottontails can never share this space with a gardener like me...

well, maybe for just a few more days....

Egg Hunt

Yesterday I was out in the garden preparing to clear away last year's debris when something unusual caught my eye:

The children were promptly notified of this discovery. We speculated on what kind of creature could have left such a treasure in the compost pile:

After a brief and excited discussion, we quickly came to a consensus that the mother probably bears a close resemblance to this specimen:

It was then revealed via Google Search that yon brush pile shall remain undisturbed for 29 days and nights, lest this may come to pass:

That would mean finalizing this year's garden layout would have to wait until after May 20 (give or take); an unacceptable time line and quite frankly not an option for me or my seedlings.

Violent opposition was voiced and revolution was threatened when this course of action was suggested:

The Goose Whisperer

A small flock of rather fat geese had made themselves quite at home under the shade of our street tree this morning; they didn't even rise from their siesta when our minivan arrived back from a morning's worth of grocery shopping. While fish sticks and melting popsicles amalgamated in the hot van, my oldest girl just had to see just how tame those birds are. It was a mutually beneficial exchange, because you have no idea how many bags of moldy bread heels I have been hoarding in the back of the breadbox for just such an occasion. I wonder how foie gras fattened on moldy bagels and stale tostitos tastes? It would be so easy....
